The project responds to new paradigms of rural living and tourism by integrating accommodation within an active fruit farm. Located in Drajna, Prahova — a region with a long-standing tradition of plum and apple cultivation — it is part of the „Fruit Road” initiative, a network of 18 localities dedicated to promoting local culture, traditions, and products.

The vision of the project is to reactivate the rural landscape through its own resources, creating a model that can be replicated in other communities and acting as a catalyst for future development. The farm becomes a hybrid territory where production, hospitality, and cultural heritage coexist, blurring the traditional boundaries between the urban and the rural.

The functional program brings together the productive orchard, accommodation facilities, hospitality spaces, a distillery and cider production unit, as well as a fruit collection and processing center. Together, these functions create an integrated ecosystem that supports local economic development while offering visitors an authentic connection to the place and its traditions.

The main building serves as the heart of the complex. The lower level accommodates the distillery and cider production facilities, directly linked to the agricultural activity of the farm, while the ground floor hosts the public functions, including the restaurant, bar, reception area, and exhibition space. Conceived as a place of encounter between production and hospitality, the building allows visitors to discover the complete journey of the fruit, from cultivation and harvesting to processing and tasting.

The accommodation units reinterpret the essence of traditional Romanian rural living through a contemporary lens. Their design is structured around two complementary spatial narratives: “From the Roots”, where partially embedded spaces offer an intimate perspective connected to the ground and the orchard floor, and “To the Crown”, where elevated volumes open panoramic views into the treetops and the surrounding landscape. Together, these experiences invite guests to explore the orchard from multiple perspectives, creating an immersive relationship with nature and the rhythms of rural life.
